Its Official: State of Emergency until May 31 in Thailand… so, I bought Pound Cake

Greetings folks.
I wanted to go for a bit of a walk and mail off some postcards. Yes, people still send postcards and I would submit, people also like to receive them. Try it some day, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the response of your recipient!
There’s a lady and her daughter that have a little bakery and she makes many different cakes and pastries. My favorite is her banana bread and muffins and her pound cake.
SO, naturally, when the official word came to me from the US State Department that Thailand has officially announced they have extended their State of Emergency thru May 31st, I *knew* it was time for pound cake.
So, another month of similar restrictions: Curfew from 10p to 4am (when I’m sleeping anyway) as well as no alcohol sales (I don’t drink) as well as closure of all malls and massage shops. OK, now you have my attention!!!

I went for a bit of a walk today, down the street to a grocery store that looks like any other grocery store. …you would see in an Upper Middle Class neighborhood in San Diego. As I was walking there I noticed people were sitting down on the sidewalk, for about a block and a half. There were little old slippers placed in the sidewalk about 2 meters apart to clarify spacing. I thought, they must be waiting for something but I couldn’t think what that might be.
On my walk back all those people were now standing up, still ~2 meters apart and as I walked past a table I saw the reason. There were a few people handing out some food and bags of rice. A quick glance at the line of people and then back at the table told me there was NOT enough food for all the people.
A feeling of gratitude over came me.
So, just wanted to share.
